Drive faults and what they mean
Inverter fault codes are specific and worth reading properly. Overcurrent trips usually indicate a mechanical problem — a stiff bearing, a partially blocked impeller or a pump being asked to work outside its curve. Overvoltage trips often relate to deceleration ramps that are too fast for the load. Overtemperature trips point at a blocked panel filter or a plant room running hotter than the drive is rated for. Earth faults mean motor or cable insulation, which needs testing rather than resetting.
- Overcurrent trips from mechanical load problems
- Overvoltage trips from deceleration ramp settings
- Overtemperature trips and panel cooling failures
- Earth faults in motor windings or cabling
- Communication loss between drive and controller
- Nuisance tripping from supply quality issues
